- Trevor Fristoe joined the Faculty of Biology at UPR-Río Piedras in 2023. Originally from Alaska, his academic pursuits have brought him from the temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest (B.S.) to the deserts of New Mexico (Ph.D.) to the Ozarks of Missouri (Postdoc) to the Alpine foothills of Germany (Research Associate) to his current home on the tropical island of Puerto Rico. He is motivated by a desire to understand Earth’s staggering diversity of species and habitats and his macroecological research addresses broad topics in biogeography and biodiversity, with study systems ranging from plants through birds and mammals to humans.
