member in the Department of Biology since 2001. She served as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the College of Natural Sciences and has pursued scientific teaching as a scholarly activity. Her research interests focus on undergraduate biology and K-12 STEM education. She has used her training as an immunologist to develop various initiatives to integrate quantitative and bioinformatics skills into the biology curriculum through institutional, NIH, and NSF funds. As Director of the Center for Science and Math Education Research, she provides support to discipline-based education researchers and to other scientists that are interested in outreach opportunities to K-12 schools.
