  • Edwin Asencio Pagán has worked in research areas in studying the attitudes and characteristics of resilience in residents of communities vulnerable to flood events in the municipality of Mayagüez after Hurricane María. He has also been involved as principal investigator in the Sea Grant Program, RUM. In addition, he has studied the issue of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms in residents of communities vulnerable to flooding in the municipality of Mayagüez after the passage of atmospheric events. Another area of strength has been analyzing the factors that influence the re-election and political attrition of mayors in the southern and western regions of Puerto Rico. He has also stood out for researching issues related to the crime rate in Puerto Rico, public safety, and post-traumatic stress in law enforcement officers.
