López-Sierra, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the College of Social Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus A seasoned university professor in the field of social sciences, humanities, and education with over 30 years of experience in academia Dr. López-Sierra has excelled in teaching, research, publishing, counseling, and implementing social justice interventions, as well as in the fields of religious studies and community outreach.
His diverse range of earned certificates in criminology and mental health enriches Dr. López-Sierra’s professional profile. He is a licensed Psychologist in Puerto Rico, a Psychotherapist, a Palliative Care Therapist, and a sociologist specializing in health, the Elderly, and Spirituality/Religion.
His expertise encompasses client therapy and organizational interventions, utilizing cognitive-behavioral and evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy, as well as end-of-life palliative care, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and holistic emotional well-being consulting He is also a Certified Addictions Psychotherapist IV (CAT IV), a Certified Spiritual Director (CSD 1070-3), an intercultural and interfaith spiritual caregiver, and a Sociologist of Religious Organizations and Culture A unique blend of theoretical and practical methods characterizes Dr. López-Sierra’s academic and professional approach.
