Interdisciplinary education and research characterize the versatility of Dr. Longobardi’s academic career. In 1993, she obtained her Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Statistics at the University of Manitoba. Her graduate studies were completed outside of the province. In 1995 she earned a Bachelor of Economics Honours degree at McGill University, and in 2003 she was awarded a Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics from York University, Toronto specializing in public economics and industrial organization with a doctoral thesis in Health Services Research and Health Economics. Dr. Longobardi returned to Manitoba to pursue research interests with the Faculty of Medicine, but also simultaneously taught Corporate Finance at the University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg over 10 years between 2000 and 2009. Since 2010, she has become a tenured Full Professor of Finance at the School of Business Administration in the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, USA. She teaches in both the Undergraduate and Graduate School of Business. She has supervised several doctoral theses. In August, 2019 she was appointed Director of the Finance Department and served a 2-year term. Her research as a body of work, explores the economic impact of health and culture on society.
