Richie Delgado-Ortega has a permanent license to practice as a professional counselor, issued by the Puerto Rican Department of Health and is also National Certified Counselor (NCC). He is an active member of the and the Puerto Rican Counseling Association (APCP by its acronym in Spanish), organization that he presided during 2022. For many years he worked as a theater teacher and professional counselor in public schools. He has published in professional magazines and developed opinion columns in newspapers in the island. His dissertation titled “Perceptions that professional counselors have about transgender people” was recognized by the Department of Graduate Studies of the Faculty of Education of the University of Puerto Rico, as one of the most outstanding doctoral researches in 2017. In addition, it is frequently used as a reference for the development of other research works. He currently works for the Department of Counseling for Student Development of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus where he offers individual and group counseling services to the entire university community.
