• Wilson R. Ramírez Martínez was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico in 1965, son of Wilson Ramírez Mercado and Carmen Martínez Ramírez. Wilson has a multidisciplinary academic preparation with degrees in Biology, Oceanography and Geology and does research integrating those disciplines and collaborating with colleagues from multiple scientific disciplines in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the USA. Wilson was hired as faculty in 1999 by the Geology Department at UPRM and has been teaching and doing research at this institution since then. He has been a full professor at UPRM-Geology since 2012. Wilson R. Ramírez Martínez also works as a private consultant in Geology and has been Licensed to work as a Professional Geologist in Puerto Rico sine 2017 (License # 110 GP). He has been living in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico since 1999, is married to Carla R. Lora Rodríguez and has a daughter, Idalys Ramírez Lora. Wilson is a Licensed Advanced SCUBA Diver (PADI) and uses SCUBA as a research tool for some of his projects.
