Dr. Palai has about 20 years of experience in the growth of various thin films using pulsed laser deposition (PLD), molecular beam expitaxy (MBE), and atomic layer deposition (ALD), etc. His current interests include growth and characterization thin films and nanostructures of III-Nitrides (GaN, InN, and AlN) semiconductors, high temperature superconductor, ferromagnetism, spintronics, multiferroics, functional oxides and oxynitrides, etc. Dr. Palai joined at the UPR Rio Piedras Campus in 2008 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in 2012 and 2018, respectively.
